Doctor en Antropología Social por la Universidad de Oxford; Máster en Antropología Social (2001) por la London School of Economics and Political Science (1996).
Soy antropólogo social cuyos intereses de investigación se centran en la antropología de las ciudades y la antropología de la ciencia y la tecnología.
Durante los últimos diez años he investigado a colectivos y comunidades de “cultura libre” que incluyen a hackers, arquitectos, ingenieros y gestores culturales. Resultado de estas investigaciones he trabajado sobre el concepto de “urbanismo libre”, distinto del urbanismo público y el urbanismo comunitario que caracterizaron los procesos urbanos en los siglos XIX y XX.
Por otro lado he estudiado también la singularidad técnica de los “prototipos” diseñados por estas comunidades de cultura libre, en diálogo con el estudio clásico de ensayos y diseños experimentales en historia y sociología de la ciencia y antropología de la tecnología. A raíz de estas investigaciones estoy repensando la antropología y arqueología de las “trampas”, quizás el interfaz tecnológico (entre naturaleza y cultura, mente y mundo) por excelencia.
Entre 2023-2026 soy coeditor de la revista Cultural Anthropology.
